Yesterday Adorn for Hope had a booth at the Basel Summer Market at the Märthalle. Being present at a market, helps raise awareness of the work and projects we are doing, and also sells the items to raise money for the organizations we support in the Philippines.
Here are some photos of the items we showcased:
We presented AFH at a womens Easter Breakfast today in Basel, and got very positive feedback!
There was a mini selection of items there and we were glad to see people go home with new adorning items like kitchen washcloths, kids newsboy hats, flower hair barrettes, decorated bibs, wrist warmes for young ladies etc. Thank you all for your support!
Another baby pants-set with bonnet has arrived in the shop!
This pair is a light blue fine knit cotton; a perfect soft
set for your little ones. Made with a simple cotton lacey edging at the front of
the bonnet and as a hip-belt together with a darker blue yarn. Suitable for girls and boys alike.
You can find it here in the shop.
Popular in baby photography, are these beautiful pants-sets which are often made out of upcycled sweaters. I loved the look of little baby legs wrapped in comfortable and gorgeous mini trousers with a matching bonnet which ties under the chin. It stays on and is 'modernly traditional'.
This pair is made out of cotton fabric I found at the local fabric store, just perfect for a cool little soft set for your little ones. Made with wool lace on the bonnet and woolen felted flower as a hip-belt, both hand-crocheted. Alternative colors are available for the bonnet-crocheted lace and belt-flower, just name your color and it will be made to order!
Not just for baby photography, its practical also for every day use. Gentle wash cold. A special suit for your precious one! You find it in the shop here:
Just a short post showing a few orders going out this week. Hippi got a
nice tie, and 2 pairs of special order of wrist warmers that were a real
enjoyment to make. Crocheting the black cashmere was smooth like melted
chocolate on ice cream... ;)
Popular, practical, fun. This style of cap fits boys and girls, men and women alike. Shown here is the cap for little boys in a creme/gray/blue melée mix.
Find it here.

A while back, I posted about the Pennant Banners that were new at the time. Since then, we have made numerous banners with different text, colors and looks. Here is the post from back then, with a few images to go with it, including the newer banners and alternative style and finishing.
The pennants are hand crocheted,
with celtic letters in 100% cotton yarn, framed and backed with cotton
fabric and sewn together as a banner. The total banner length is 170 cm
for this 6-pennant banner and costs CHF 49.00.
For each additional letter/pennant, the length will increase by ca.
20cm. Please add CHF 8.00 for every additional letter/pennant requested;
6 = 49.00 CHF
7 = 57.00 CHF
8 = 65.00 CHF etc.
More colors are available. Actually ~ANY~ combination you want, we will make.
The ADH-cotton fabric arsenal has been refilled with wonderful patterns
and fabrics, and I am looking forward to all the wonderful combinations
which we will be making. Be inspired, and send us a message with your
ideas and wishes!

The idea started to make these little critters when I posted a
picture on Facebook of Zebi, the first one which I had made while waiting for my first child to arrive. There was so much
positive feedback and requests for me to make and sell them. If I can start making something that people would
like to purchase, than I could also teach others to do so. For now they
are only created by me.
But can you imagine, how great it would be if by having these items made by mothers, living in dire situations in the porrest areas of the Philippines, who need extra income for their families, can also keep those mothers' children and
teens from spending their time trying to scavange recyclables from the dumpsites of Manila?
If children can stay in school, they are helped to get off the streets, get
support to finish their basic school education, and the opportunity to
learn a profession like e.g. being a seamstress, a cook, a mechanic etc., and then they are able to
sustain a future by having A chance at employment. Maybe even by making such items, which so beautifully adorn our
children’s’ room and our homes? That drives me!
Here is a group photo of the first edition of these little animals
loved by young and old alike. More animals will join the group when they are designed and made!
